On this page I am going to share resources that have helped me on this journey--

Research:

Referred to as the "Grand Prix of epidemiology" by The New York Times, this study examines more than 350 variables of health and nutrition with surveys from 6,500 adults in more than 2,500 counties across China and Taiwan, and conclusively demonstrates the link between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. While revealing that proper nutrition can have a dramatic effect on reducing and reversing these ailments as well as curbing obesity, this text calls into question the practices of many of the current dietary programs, such as the Atkins diet, that are widely popular in the West. The politics of nutrition and the impact of special interest groups in the creation and dissemination of public information are also discussed.

Website: The Foundation and The China Study

Based on the groundbreaking results of a twenty-year nutritional study by Dr. Esselstyn, a preeminent researcher and clinician, this book illustrates that a plant-based, oil-free diet can not only prevent and stop the progression of heart disease but can also reverse its effects.
The proof lies in the incredible outcomes for patients who have followed Dr. Esselstyn's program, including a number of patients in his original study who had been told by their cardiologists that they had less than a year to live. Within months of starting the program, Dr. Esselstyn's patients began to improve dramatically, and twenty years later, they remain free of symptoms.

Books:

My favorite cookbook for Vegan, Low-fat recipes, the carrot cupcakes are my favorite.

Can I just say YUM!  Has great reviews from leading Vegan chefs and so far {I got it for Christmas} I have loved every recipe.

Videos:

examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the so-called "diseases of affluence" that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods. The major storyline in the film traces the personal journeys of a pair of pioneering  researchers, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn.

is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe's personal mission to regain his health while traveling across America, juicer in tow, and inspiring others to do the same.  You can find it on NetFlix too.  This is the creator of the Reboot Your Life website.

Websites:

Because I am "Vegan" or rather, follow a plant strong lifestyle I love these websites because the focus is not on the political, social, or environmental issues {although mostly valid} they revolve around healthy eating for fit bodies.

This is a treasure trove of vegan recipes and lovely pictures...one hint though remember that not everything vegan is healthy--it can be vegan and still be filled with plant-based fats so use those sparingly and eat up the healthy ones!

I love Lindsay!  She introduces herself as someone who believes food should be just as nutritious as it is delicious...awesome recipe book and collection on the website, she also offers meal plans and grocery lists.

This is Kathy and her beautiful photos and food--yuuuummmmy!

This is the website of Joe--from Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.  Free assessment and resources for trying out a juice reboot or juice fast.

This is Jennifer--photographer, vegan and awesome cook...winning combo in my book!

A movement to improve health a little at a time--great for families wanting the benefits of a whole foods diet but just not sure where to start.   More recipes from Eating Well...

This is a great resource--this website subscribes to the China Study and has 3 bloggers, just like us but they are all vegan, the only difference is their level of expertise.  You can take a quiz and find the blogger who fits your level of veganism-beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
